Chair of Producteurs de lait du Québec
Michel Robert is now the Chair of the PLQ as well Chair of Les Producteurs de lait d’Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Dairy Farmers of the Abitibit-Témiscamingue Region).
Michel has served on the organization’s Executive Committee since 2024 and on his regional board of directors since 2019. He has also been Chair of Valacta’s Board of Directors since 2023.
Mr. Robert holds a diploma in Animal Science from the Institut de technologie agroalimentaire (ITA) in Saint-Hyacinthe. Before becoming involved with Les Producteurs de lait du Québec, he served as president of his local union and regional vice-president. He also worked as a field representative for Agropur. Over the years, he has been actively involved with PATLQ, CIAQ and Holstein Canada.
Michel Robert co-owns Ferme Mondou & Robert inc. with his partner, Lorraine Mondou. Together, they represent the fourth generation to operate the family farm. Their herd includes more than 400 head of cattle, including 210 milking cows.
In addition to producing forage for their herd, the farm grows a variety of field crops, including barley, soybeans, canola, camelina and wheat for human consumption, across more than 2,000 acres.
Mr. Robert is also the owner of Services Agritem, a company specializing in the sale of agricultural inputs. While farm life keeps him busy, the family structure of the operation and the strong involvement of the next generation allow him to dedicate time to several committees and organizations.
