Alain Brassard will serve as interim Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec
Longueuil, July 25, 2026Les Producteurs de lait du Québec has announced that Alain Brassard, 1st Vice-Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec and Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Centre-du-Québec, will serve as interim Chair of the organization until the next Chair is elected. This comes as a result of Daniel Gobeil stepping down from the position of Chair so that he can run for a seat in the federal by-election in the Chicoutimi–Le Fjord riding.
In accordance with the applicable provisions of the organization’s rules, Mr. Gobeil has decided to resign from his position as Chair of the PLQ and as Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.
Mr. Gobeil’s decision is personally motivated by a desire to deepen his involvement in politics. We thank him for his many years of commitment to Quebec milk producers and especially for his fierce defence of supply management and collective marketing. We hope that he will continue to defend this position throughout his political career, which is what we demand of all political parties.
As 1st Vice-Chair, Mr. Brassard will serve as interim Chair until a new Chair is elected by the PLQ’s Board of Directors. Mr. Brassard and Jacques Lafortune will each keep their respective positions as 1st and 2nd Vice-Chairs until the next election.
Alain Brassard is co-owner of Ferme Brassard and Fils in Plessisville, which is located in the Centre-du-Québec region. He has been a member of the board of directors of that region since 2005 and a member of the PLQ’s Board of Directors since 2017. He has served as 1st Vice-Chair since 2020.
