Michel Robert is elected Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec
Longueuil, August 26, 2026– The Board of Directors of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec (PLQ) has elected Michel Robert, Chair of Les Producteurs de lait de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue, as Chair of the PLQ. He has been a member of the organization’s Executive Committee since April 2024 and a member of the PLQ’s Board of Directors since 2022.
Mr. Robert is the fourth generation to run Ferme Mondou & Robert in Saint-Eugène-de-Guigues. The farm’s herd has more than 400 cows, of which 210 are lactating. In addition to the forage needs of its herd, the farm grows crops such as barley, soybean, canola, false flax and wheat for human consumption on more than 2,000 acres of land. Mr. Robert is also the owner of Services Agritem, a company that specializes in the sale of inputs. Although there is no shortage of work, the family-run farm has a young generation of family members who are heavily involved, which frees up enough time for him to serve on committees and participate in various organizations.
The election for the PLQ’s Chair was held after Daniel Gobeil stepped down from the office on July 24. The Board of Directors thanks Alain Brassard, Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Centre-du-Québec, who took over as interim Chair of the organization until Michel Robert was elected.
Alain Brassard, Chair of Les Producteurs de lait du Centre-du-Québec, will continue to serve as First Vice-Chair. Mr. Brassard is co-owner of Ferme Brassard et Fils in Plessisville. Alain Brassard has sat on the board of directors of his regional organization since 2005 and on the PLQ’s Board since 2017.
Jacques Lafortune, Chair of Les Producteurs de lait de Lanaudière since 2019, will also continue to serve as Second Vice-Chair. He is co-owner of Ferme Jean-Claude Lafortune et Fils Inc. in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan.
Pascal Leduc, Chair of Les Producteurs de lait d’Outaouais-Laurentides, and Christian Kaiser, Chair of Les Producteurs de lait de l’Estrie, round out the composition of the Executive Committee.
The PLQ’s Board of Directors is composed of the chairs of the 14 regional organizations and an observer member from the region of the PLQ’s Chair. The regional chairs are elected at regional meetings in the winter.
