Les Producteurs de lait du Québec rewards three dairy farms for having the best quality milk in Quebec

Saint-Hyacinthe, April 15, 2026 – Ferme du Bras de Saint-Isidore, Ferme Morine de Coaticook and Ferme Bilogo 2010 de Saint-Léon-de-Standon finished in the top three positions in Quebec due to the exceptional quality of their milk. They received the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards respectively in the 2025 edition of the Lait’xcellent competition. The recipients received their awards at the 2026 Annual General Meeting of Les Producteurs de lait du Québec.

2025 Gold Lait’xcellent Award

Ferme du Bras, Saint-Isidore, Chaudière-Appalaches-Sud

Serge Dumont of Ferme du Bras, located in Saint-Isidore in the Chaudière-Appalaches-Sud region, has approximately thirty lactating cows and 105 hectares of cropland. He is extremely diligent in his farm’s upkeep. Clean stalls, bedding and equipment are priorities. He also pays a lot of attention to each cow’s health condition, feed and genetic selection. Serge grew up on the farm and always wanted to become a milk producer. He likes being his own boss, working outside and with his family. To help him with his work, he can count on his mother Thérèse Fournier and his half-brother Claude Morin. In 2010, the barn was renovated to provide more comfort to animals. The renovation created a much more comfortable environment both for the animals and the producers.

Serge Dumont has received “Very Great Distinction” certificates in recent years, but this is the first time that he has won a Lait’xcellent competition. Serge is proud of his enterprise and happy that his efforts have been rewarded.

2025 Silver Lait’xcellent Award

Ferme Morine, Coaticook, Estrie

Véronique Lévesque, Réjean Morin and their son Frédéric are owners of Ferme Morine, located in Coaticook in the Estrie region. Although each of them has their own responsibilities on the farm, they gladly come together to milk the cows. Their herd has 35 lactating cows. They are proud to have healthy cows that stay for a long time in the herd.
Ferme Morine has for many years set itself apart through the quality of its milk and received good results in the Carbon-Neutral Milk Living Laboratory project.

In addition to making the podium of the Lait’xcellent competition for a sixth consecutive year, Ferme Morine has received two “Great Distinction” and five “Very Great Distinction” certificates in recent years.

2025 Bronze Lait’xcellent Award

Ferme Bilogo 2010 in Saint-Léon-de-Standon, Chaudière-Appalaches-Nord

Jean-François Gosselin of Ferme Bilogo 2010, located in Saint-Léon-de-Standon in the Chaudière-Appalaches-Nord region, has 60 lactating cows. They have been housed since April 2025 in a new building with free stalls and robotic milking. Jean-François is a perfectionist dairy farmer. He spends a lot of time keeping up his barn and looking after the animals’ well-being. The new cowshed saves Jean-François time and makes his farm work easier. It also provides excellent comfort to lactating cows. Jean-François co-owns the farm with his brother Guillaume. Guillaume mainly takes care of the field work, but helps out plenty in the barn as well. In the spring, Guillaume also takes charge of the maple stand with 7,000 taps located 5 minutes from the family farm.

Ferme Bilogo 2010 has received several “Very Great Distinction” certificates in recent years, and this is the second time that they have been provincial winners in Quebec. The first time they achieved this was in 2014. The fact that they are finalists this year is a wonderful surprise for these producers, since the herd is currently transitioning to new modern facilities.

Milk quality, a priority for producers

Quebec and Canada have some of the highest milk quality standards in the industry, which include very strict requirements on the absence of antibiotics in milk and a ban on using growth hormones for animals.

Quebec milk producers engage in top quality practices by complying with the very strict rules of the Canadian Quality Milk program, which is designed to prevent, monitor and reduce food safety risks on farms. This program is a module of proAction, the sound and sustainable governance program for Canadian dairy farms.
