The dairy enterprise startup assistance program was created in 2006
This program issues quota loans to encourage young people to set up a farm who do not have the opportunity to take over an existing one. In this way, it enables new dairy operations to start up. The program was modified in 2022.
As part of this program, a quantity of 180 kg of butterfat per day is made available annually by the pooling of provincial milk marketing boards that signed the Agreement on the Eastern Canadian Milk Pooling. Each loan is for 20 kg of butterfat per day. The loan is repaid starting in the eleventh year after its issue.
