Bruno Letendre, as he announced nearly a year ago, will not pursue another term as Chair of the PLQ’s regional body in Estrie and is stepping down from his office as Chair of the PLQ.Daniel Gobeil, First Vice-Chair of the PLQ, will replace outgoing Chair Bruno Letendre until the circumstances caused by COVID-19 allow its Board of Directors to meet in person and hold an election, as stipulated in the organization’s general by-laws.
An election was supposed to be held at the end of the PLQ’s Annual General Meeting, which was scheduled for April 15 and 16, 2020, but had to be rescheduled to a later date due to the public health measures.
As a consequence, the composition of the Executive Committee will also remain the same until the Board of Directors is able to meet in person. The current members of the Executive Committee are Daniel Gobeil, First Vice-Chair, Alain Brassard, Second Vice-Chair, Richard Bouchard and Jean-François Morin.
Bruno Letendre held the office of PLQ Chair from December 2011 to April 2020. He has also acted as Chair of the PLQ’s regional body in Estrie since 2002. Marcel Blais, who served as First Vice-Chair of Estrie for 8 years, was elected as its new chair at the Estrie regional meeting.
Daniel Gobeil hails from Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, where he operates a dairy farm with 125 lactating cows and a herd totalling 210 heads. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Université Laval. After serving on the Board of Directors of Les Producteurs de lait du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean since 2007, he became its Chair in April 2017 as well as Vice-Chair of the PLQ in December of the same year.
